Talking Heads don't have much to say

Inspired to start a blog, for myself mainly. I'm too lazy apparently to put pen to paper, but since I do spend inordinate amounts of time in front of the computer maybe this will work out better. When DH finds out about this, he's sure to be overjoyed....yeah...maybe not. He loves that I sit in front of the computer in the evenings instead of giving him massages and intellectually stimulating conversations. Anyway, I'm mainly just doing this, as I said, for myself, and to record the random thoughts and events of my average suburban life. I want a place to record what my 2 mischievous boys are up to, and they are usally up to something.

For starters, DH invited our neighbors over for dinner last night. We just recently moved into this house, and both of us feel strongly about trying to build community with those on our little cove. DH wouldn't express it that way, he would probably look quizzicaly at the idea of "building community," but he does want that too. He's from Uzbekistan, and there, the idea of privacy is fairly non-existent. Neighbors freely enter the house at any time of day, if you're lucky they knock first. Gossip is the main pastime of the neighborhood ladies. But, in addition, those neighbors are always ready to offer a willing hand. They truly support each other like an extended family. Well, many times they are actually relatives, but whatever. So, DH hopes to recreate something like that here, and I do too.

That was a tangent.

So, he invited the family at the end of the cove for dinner. Then, unbeknowst to us, 6 yr old first son, (we'll call him Aka here, which in Uzbek means "big brother") invited the family from next door too. Luckily we had enought food, and it actually was more fun having both families over. But for a minute, DH and I looked at each other like, "umm....ok....what do we do now?" Thanksgiving leftovers for the guests? Well, we did give them some turkey.

Turkey is always better with cranberry sauce.
